Earlier this year I went to Berlin, in part to see the Berlin Wall. It’s fascinating to me to think that just only 20 short years ago the wall was fully up and separating East and West Berlin. All at the same time the wall is unbelievable, fascinating, scary and very, very sad. It left a deep impression on me, how horrible it must have been to live under those circumstances in Berlin, really a beautiful and amazing city. So it was of great interest when I saw the great Don McCullin’s lost negatives today on the Time LightBox blog. The Berlin wall went up 50 years ago this month, a historic set of photos by McCullin. I am glad it’s torn down.
