In A Japanese Garden

I love Japanese Gardens. Ever since my first trip to Japan back in 2007, the Japanese sensibility has had a big effect on how I look at things in my life. I love their sense of design, rhythm, outlook and and feel. I have tried to adapt some of their values into my photography. They don’t always work, but when they do, things just become more elegant. So on a recent visit to Portland, Oregon, I had a chance to take my family to their Japanese Gardens, what a treat. Tucked into the rain forrest surrounding downtown is a beautifully designed Japanese Garden. If you have been to one, you know they are quiet, wonderfully contemplative places that are simply magic to me. And somehow, the square iPhone photos work for me here. I think I need a trip back to Japan.
