Palm Springs Cool

We just finished spending few great days in sunny Palm Springs. Palm Springs has long been the playground of the Hollywood set, going back to Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and Frank Sinatra that used to hang out there. The place is still small, laid back and hip. Fantastic mid century shopping and architecture with splashes of great art all around. The days were perfect for some desert hiking and nights great for sipping wine on a patio, we love Palm Springs.

Street Shooting Saturday’s

As most of my friends know, I almost always carry a camera around. It’s easy when you are a full time photographer, you always need one. What I have always done is shoot little slice of life photos, street photography or portraits, just because I felt there was an image there. So many times that image did not get published anywhere. Of course now with the publishing platforms of Instagram, Tumblr, and blogs, we have a home for these and many more photographs. So I am going to try and post a photograph I shot just for myself each week on Saturday here. I know I always have too much on my plate to do a pictures a day for 365 days like some photographers do, but in this new publishing world, it will give you a glimpse into what I see each week. Stay tuned…

Paris

I  recently shot a travel assignment for the Toronto Star, which is in today’s paper following in the footsteps of some of the great street photographers that have wondered the streets of Paris, one of the grand cities of the world. I took my 16 year son on a little European vacation hitting London first, then the high speed train to Paris. Paris, no matter what time of year, is simply a magical city. Incredible food, fantastic coffee,  wonderful art and great street life. The second you are home, Paris starts calling you back…
